Let’s hear it for the Boys! In celebration of Ford Mustang’s 50th birthday, 33 talented men from 14 different countries got together to honour this gorgeous machine in sugar. Collectively, we are called the Rev Heads.
This was my contribution. The inspiration for my piece came from the 1960’s work of Andy Warhol and the Pop Art movement. I chose the imagery of the rear view mirror, air freshener and dice as I felt they were a good mix of the automotive element of this collaboration and the kitschy elements of Pop Art. The rear view mirror is made from pastillage, the air freshener is made from modelling paste and the 2 dice are chocolate cake cubes covered with sugarpaste panels. The majority of the colours used are reproductions of the original colour choices that were available when the 1965 Ford Mustang went on sale.
